Gai Chicken and Rice Brings Thai-Inspired Street Food to the Empi...

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced that Gai Chicken and Rice, a popular quick-casual eatery specializing in Thai-inspired street food, has opened its third Capital Region location at the Empire State Plaza.  

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience at the Empire State Plaza, and offering everyone who lives, works, and visits great food is a big part of that,” Commissioner Moy said. “Bringing in a New Yorker-owned small business like Gai Chicken and Rice is exactly the kind of addition that helps make the Plaza a place people want to explore, gather, and connect.” 

Gai Chicken and Rice adds an exciting new culinary option to an expanding lineup of New Yorker-owned small businesses at the Plaza. The menu centers on Khao Man Gai — authentic Thai chicken and rice. Guests can choose between tender, poached-to-perfection chicken or a crispy fried alternative, both served over fragrant rice simmered in a rich chicken broth with garlic and ginger. This comforting street-food classic is complemented by the restaurant's signature spicy-savory ginger-soy dipping sauce, a side of warm, clear broth, and refreshing beverages like Thai iced tea or an herbal drink.

Prominently located at the main entrance of the Empire State Plaza food court (formerly Auntie Anne’s), Gai Chicken and Rice is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offers diners the choice between ordering online or in person. The restaurant will officially celebrate its arrival with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 30 at 10:30 A.M.
